Neurodivergence, Resilience, and the Mission Behind PSAT

    Long before the language existed

Dr. Andrew C. Green, Founder of PSAT Academy, grew up navigating neurodivergence long before the language or diagnoses commonly used today were widely understood. As a child and into adulthood, he lived with traits that would later be recognized as Asperger's syndrome, along with Sleep Related Rhythmic Movement Disorder, a condition that affected him at night for more than 25 years.

Those experiences shaped his resilience, his compassion for students who learn differently, and his commitment to building educational environments where children are seen, supported, and challenged to thrive.

Growing up before the diagnosis existed

Asperger's syndrome was not formally added to the DSM until 1994, and today it is generally folded into the broader autism spectrum. For a child growing up in the years before that recognition, there was no vocabulary, only difference. The traits that today would prompt early support and understanding were, for Dr. Green, simply the shape of daily life: intense focus, deep pattern recognition, sensitivity to environment, and a mind that saw the world at a different angle than the classroom expected.

He learned, adapted, and paid attention. Those years quietly built a founder who now recognizes in his students what nobody had the language to name in him.

The nights: 25 years of RMD

Sleep Related Rhythmic Movement Disorder (RMD) involves repetitive rhythmic movements at the edge of sleep or during sleep itself. It is most common in early childhood and usually fades, though persistence into adolescence and adulthood is unusual. For Dr. Green, it lasted more than 25 years, from birth well into adulthood.

Twenty five years of learning how to rest inside a body that moved on its own rhythm teaches you something. It teaches patience with what you cannot switch off. It teaches empathy for the child who cannot sit still, cannot sleep easily, cannot fit the mold, and who is often written off long before anyone asks why.

"I learned early that being wired differently isn't a deficit; it's a lens. That lens is why PSAT exists, and why every child who walks through our doors is met as a whole person first."

    How it shaped PSAT

Every pillar and program at PSAT carries a piece of that lived experience.

    The AIGOGIA connection

The same conviction that built PSAT, that every child deserves an education shaped around who they actually are, is what drives Dr. Green's EdTech company, AIGOGIA Inc. AIGOGIA is the technology arm of that mission: personalized, adaptive learning tools designed to meet each learner where they are.

PSAT is the classroom. AIGOGIA is the platform. Both exist because a founder who once had no language for his own difference decided the next generation would.

Every child deserves to be seen.
