ACE is not a regular classroom with a few extra accommodations. It is a small, structured learning environment for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autism, and other unique learning needs. ACE uses a structured literacy, science of reading approach for reading and writing, intensive small group and 1:1 support (2 through 4:1 and 1:1), and targeted coaching in math, attention, and executive function. Families choose ACE when their child needs more than "extra help" to succeed, they need a different way of teaching.

    ACE vs. Traditional Classroom

How is ACE different from a regular class at PSAT Academy?

    Traditional Classroom

    Whole Group Instruction

Best for students who can keep up with grade level work with modest supports.

Larger class sizes with a standard pace and scope
Teacher differentiates within whole group instruction
Accommodations are provided, but intensive remediation time is limited
Best suited for students who can keep up with grade level work
    ACE Classroom

    A Different Way of Teaching

Designed for students who need more than accommodations, they need a different model.

Intentionally small groups (2 through 4:1) plus 1:1 blocks built into the schedule
Structured literacy, science of reading approach for reading and writing challenges
Targeted intervention in math, organization, and executive function, not extra homework help
Designed for students who require a different way of teaching, not just accommodations
Frequent progress monitoring and parent communication so families see real growth

Not sure which is the right fit?

Our team can review your child's evaluations and help you choose between ACE and a traditional classroom with supports.

    Science of Reading

    Structured Literacy at the Core

ACE uses a structured literacy, science of reading approachexplicit, systematic, cumulative, and diagnostic. It is the most effective method for students with dyslexia and related reading difficulties, and it strengthens every struggling reader.

This is fundamentally different from accommodations alone. ACE students receive daily, explicit skill building in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, plus the accommodations they need to access the rest of their school day.

    Explicit, direct instruction
    Systematic & cumulative sequencing
    Multisensory engagement
    Diagnostic & responsive teaching
    Targeted Time, Every Day

    A Typical ACE Day

Parents of neurodivergent students care about how much targeted intervention time their child actually receives. Here's the approximate daily breakdown for an ACE student.

    60 through 90 min

    Structured Literacy

Science of reading, multisensory instruction in phonics, fluency, and comprehension.

    45 through 60 min

    Math Intervention

Targeted numeracy support, including dyscalculia specific strategies and number sense building.

    30 through 45 min

    Executive Function & SEL Coaching

Attention, organization, self regulation, and social emotional skills.

    90 through 120 min

    Core PSAT Academics (Scaffolded)

Grade level science, social studies, and writing with embedded scaffolds and accommodations.

    45 through 60 min

    Enrichment & Peer Interaction

Art, PE, technology, and structured social time with the broader PSAT community.

    As needed

    Movement & Sensory Breaks

Built in regulation breaks throughout the day to support focus and self-regulation.

Schedules are individualized, ACE students still access PSAT's full academic program and community, but with significantly more scaffolding, intervention time, and 1:1 support. Specific minutes are tailored to each student's IEP style learning plan.

    You'll See the Growth
